Day of Prayer and Action for Children

The World Day of Prayer and Action for Children is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide a brighter future for children around the world. To do so, they advocate for organizations and individuals to organize "World Day Events" to take place on Universal Children's Day, which is celebrated on November 20th of every year. The purpose of these events is to bring people together to pray and take action for the well-being of children.

When redesigning this website there were three primary goals that we addressed. The first, driving people to get involved. The second, providing planning resources to those who were interested in organizing or participating in an event. And lastly, conveying a feeling of inspiration and reflecting the importance of a child's well-being.

We didn't want the site to be sad and bleak - instead we wanted it to be motivating. This was accomplished through a specific use of imagery and color that together with the organization's logo paint the picture of a brighter future. We also tied in elements, such as the finger paint swashes, that bring an element of childhood to the site, while still keeping it polished and professional, which is important in reaching out to partner organizations and supporters.

In order to help get people involved, and provide them with planning resources, we added an event resource center that provided visitors with available downloads and tips. The primary resources are easily available to visitors from various pages on the website to ensure that visitors know they are available. Our development team also built a custom "participant center" which allows visitors to add events that they have organzied, provide feedback directly to the World Day team, and upload event photos and video. It also allows visitors to search for events in their area and get involved.
