This past week I attended Gravity Summit's 1 Year Anniversary conference at UCLA. Gravity Summit is a series of social media conferences that are held across the country. If you follow me on Twitter, you noticed I live-tweeted some of the highlights as the day went on. Below is a recap of the information I found most relevant, interesting, funny, and useful for business owners and marketing professionals.
So there you are on Facebook, telling the world what's on your mind, commenting on photos of your friend's weekend getaway, "liking" your co-worker's latest status update...and pulling out your credit card to purchase a half a pound of coffee?
Today, I came a cross an article telling me that I could be doing just that. Yes folks, Equator Estate Coffees and Teas is now making it easy for me (and you!) to purchase a cup of joe right on Facebook.

Within the study it was found that the share of time spent on commerce sites has declined. They say that part of the reason for this is the rise in social networking sites in the past few years. This really got me thinking. Are social communities really hurting the growth of eCommerce? I say no.

Last week I had the pleasure to give 2 sessions at CMSExpo in Chicago. One on design and one on Magento eCommerce. Here is a brief re-cap of my "Dynamic Design for the Web" presentation.
The focus of CMSExpo was definitely on the techie side including tracks for Joomla!, Drupal and Alfresco (and some other individual sessions for gems like Magento and Plone), but I was lucky enough to be asked to give a session on web design. As most of us know, all the technology and content management systems in the world are useless without quality content and a connection with your audience.
